Today in History – September 16, 1970 – 1Lt J. Vance Phillips uninjured after ejection from F-100D #553806

16 September 1970 – 1Lt J. Vance Phillips was serving with the 612TFS out of Phan Rang. On a mission over Cambodia, his F-100D was hit by gunfire. Phillips ejected and was rescued by an Army Helo.

J. Vance Phillips was born on January 27, 1943. He died on May 6, 1976, and is buried at Ft. Sam Houston.
