After serving two tours in Vietnam as a Naval Aviator, Randy Anderson joined the Georgia Air National Guard, retiring in 1988.

He was a commercial airline pilot for Eastern Airlines from 1979 to 1988 and with USAirways from 1988 until his retirement in October 2006.

Randall M. Anderson, LtCol USAF, Ret., “Headed West” on December 4, 2007.

Randall M. (Randy) Anderson, Sr., 61, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2007, at his home in Rome, GA. He was born in Atlanta, the son of the late Jennie Tate and James T. Anderson, Jr. He graduated from Westminster School for Boys in 1964 and from Vanderbilt University in 1968 at which time he was commissioned in the US Navy as an Ensign.

He served two tours as a Naval Aviator in Viet Nam, on the aircraft carriers Shangri La and Coral Sea. He completed his service in the Georgia Air National Guard, retiring as Lt. Col. in 1988.

He was a pilot with Eastern Airlines from 1979 to 1988 and with USAirways from 1988 until his retirement in October 2006. Mr. Anderson was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rome, Georgia.

Earlier he was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Marietta, GA and of First Presbyterian Church of Stamford, CT. He was a founding member of The Nine O’ Clocks and was a former member of the Marietta Rotary Club.

Surviving are his wife, Susan Stuebing Anderson; son, Dr. Randall M. Anderson, Jr., his wife Jennifer and their children Claire and Carter of Rome, GA; his daughter, Katherine A. Harrison, her husband Chris and their children, Tate and Janie of Marietta, GA; his brother, William Tate Anderson of Marietta; his sister, Kent Anderson Leslie and her husband Robert of Decatur and their children Dr. Jennie Leslie of Washington, DC and Kate Leslie of San Francisco; his niece Mary Kent Anderson of Marietta, GA, and nephew, Byron Thomas Anderson of Marietta, GA. He was pre-deceased by his brother James T. (Tommy) Anderson, III.

Funeral services [were held on] December 12, 2007 at First Presbyterian Church in Marietta with The Reverend Dr. Kenneth McKenzie and The Reverend Dr. Sam Henderson officiating.

Interment…at Mountain View Cemetery with full military honors.
