5 December 1956 – A Northrop XSM-62 Snark, 53-8172, N-69D test model, fitted with a new 24-hour stellar inertial guidance system, launches from Cape Canaveral Missile Test Annex, Florida. Harry Igor Axakowsky flew the F-100 from 1961-1962 with the 612th Tactical Fighter Squadron/401st Tactical Fighter Wing out of England AFB, LA; from 1962-1969 531st Tactical Fighter Squadron in Misawa AB, Japan; and from 1969-1972 he flew the F-105 with the 493rd Tactical Fighter Squadron/48th Tactical Fighter Wing, in Lakenheath, England.
