“Bob served in the USAF for 20 years as a Fighter Pilot, Navigator, Titan II Missile Combat Crew Commander, and Development Engineer. He retired as a Lt. Colonel. He continued his career at the Naval Warfare Center, Corona Division for 23 years.

Bob was the Director of Systems Engineering, Director of the Metrology Engineering Center, and Manager Strategic Weapon Systems Quality Department. He also served 2 years as Chairman of the Joint Services Calibration Coordination Group. Upon retiring from DOD, he created Scientific Quality Management (SQM) where he provided training, auditing, and consulting in quality assurance, quality engineering and management around the world.”(1)

Robert Joseph Eatinger was born on April 16, 1933 in Illinois, to Louring and Eileen Eatinger. He served in the Air Force for over 20 years.

ROBERT J. “BOB” EATINGER APRIL 16, 1933 – MARCH 17, 2012 Bob passed away after a short illness at his home in Grand Terrace, CA. He was born in Chicago to Eileen (Considine) and Louring Eatinger. He graduated from Arizona State University with a BS in Electrical Engineering and USC with an MS in Systems Management. Bob served in the USAF for 20 years as a Fighter Pilot, Navigator, Titan II Missile Combat Crew Commander, and Development Engineer. He retired as a Lt. Colonel.

He continued his career at the Naval Warfare Center, Corona Division for 23 years. Bob was the Director of Systems Engineering, Director of the Metrology Engineering Center, and Manager Strategic Weapon Systems Quality Department. He also served 2 years as Chairman of the Joint Services Calibration Coordination Group. Upon retiring from DOD, he created Scientific Quality Managment (SQM) where he provided training, auditing, and consulting in quality assurance, quality engineering and management around the world.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Donna, and his children – Mary (Mark) Bixler, Robert J. Eatinger, Jr., Susan (Dave) Cordova, Bill (Ursula) Eatinger, Betty (Kevin) Pope, Eileen (Steven) Lumpkin, Mike (Debra) Eatinger, Deidre (Robert) Bills, Tom (LeAnn) Baggett, his brother Edward (Rita) Eatinger; 22 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Bob is buried in Montecito Memorial Park, Colton, CA.
