In 1951 Tom graduated from West Point cadet class, and attended Pilot training at Williams AFB in 1953.

Col. Hirsch flew fighters beginning with F-85, F100, F101 and others including F4C Phantom in Ubon, Thailand where he was credited with one MIG21 kill in February 1967 while stationed with 555th TFS.

During his 20-year military career he was awarded the DFC with 3 oak leaf clusters. He was retired from the 58th Tac Fighter Training Squadron at Luke AFB in 1973.

Thomas M. Hirsch, LtCol USAF, Ret., “Headed West” on September 2, 2010.

Hirsch, Lt. Col. Thomas M. 82, of Tampa, Florida passed away on September 2, 2010. In 1951 he graduated from West Point cadet class, and attended Pilot training at Williams AFB in 1953.

Col. Hirsch flew fighters beginning with F-85, F100, F101 and others including F4C Phantom in Ubon, Thailand where he was credited with one MIG21 kill while stationed with 555th TFS 1961-1962. During his 20-year military career he was awarded the DFC with 3 oak leaf clusters. He was retired from the 58th Tac Fighter Training Squadron at Luke AFB in 1973.

Tom is survived by his daughter Dale Johnson, St. Petersburg, FL. Sons Mark and Jeffrey Hirsch in Boise, Idaho and sister Nancy Griffith, Captain Cook, HI. Services will be held in Captain Cook, Hawaii.
