In 1965, Jack flew the F-100 with a Combat Crew Training Squadron out of Luke AFB, AZ. He was then assigned to the 353rd Tactical Fighter Squadron at Torrejon AB, Spain flying the F-100 from 1966-1969.

In 1970 he went to Vietnam to fly the Super Sabre with the 416th Tactical Fighter Squadron/31st Tactical Fighter Wing at Tuy Hoa Airbase.
