Today in History – July 15, 1967 – T.H. Herndon ejects from F-100D #563275

15 July 1967 – T.H. Herndon was flying F-100D #563275. Enroute to a target of 150 Vietcong in a treeline, he was hit by 57mm AAA during a climb. He ejected and was recovered by USAF Helo. Herndon was serving with the 531st TFS out of Bien Hoa AB.

John J. Keller, LtCol USAF, Ret., “Headed West” on July 31, 2009.

KELLER – John J., 82, of Tampa, passed away July 31, 2009. Jay was the beloved husband of Jeanette; cherished father of Jay Jr., Tom, Katie and Julie; and “Opa” to seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War and in retirement he volunteered for many charities. “We celebrate his life. He gave so much love and joy to so many.” A memorial Mass was held on August 7, and he is buried at Florida National Cemetery.
