On December 12, 1967, Capt Robert Lynne Long was flying F-100 #56-2922 on a mission over Michelin Plantation about 10 miles West of  Lai Khe. His aircraft was shot down over Binh Duong Province, South Vietnam and his body recovered.

At the time of his death he was married with two daughters.

Robert is buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plymouth, IN, and is honored on the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial in Washington DC. His name is inscribed at VVM Wall, Panel 32e, Line 45.
