Pilot Information

Captain Milo George Maah’s grandson Michael Milo Maahs tells the story of the incident on TheWallofFaces.org:

“Capt Milo George Maahs is my grandfather, and if I had anything to say to him today if he were here is God Bless You. I know almost everything that I know about him. Which I will try to share with you to the best of my ability…” Captain Maahs’ “was above Ben Hoa over enemy lines doing his first bomb run, he was the leader, he was shot on the wing and so he returned to friendly lines but he was out of hydronic fluid so he ejected. He was to low to the ground so his parachute malfunctioned and didn’t open.” It was his his 146th mission.

At the time of his death, Milo was married and “had three children, little girl named Dana who was five, a young son named Darren who was three, and a 21 month old boy named David. His wife was Donna Lee (Shader) Maahs. Now Donna Lee (Shader) Wilson was widowed with three small children at the age of 28.”

Milo is buried at Ft. Snelling Nat Cemetery and is honored on the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial in Washington DC. His name is inscribed at VVM Wall, Panel 34w, Line 51.
