It was discovered on March 25th of 2013 that he had a Brain tumor with a prediction that he had about a 12-month timetable. He wanted to go to his SSS reunion on April 9-11, 2013 in Las Vegas and see some of his old buddies one more time. He was able to enjoy one last reunion not knowing he only had 10 days left.

Max graduated from Edna High School and then Texas A&M in 1953. He joined the US Air Force in Nov. 1953 as a 2nd Lieutenant. He served in Viet Nam and later as a fighter pilot. Max went to work at Marriott’s Camelback Inn in 1977 and retired as Director of Safety and Security in 1992. Traveling, RVing, and a summer home in Munds Park, AZ kept him busy after retiring. He was an active and founding member of the Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist in Glendale, AZ. Max will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.

Memorial service with a luncheon was held Friday, May 10, 2013, at the Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist in Glendale, AZ. Interment followed at the VA National Memorial Cemetery of AZ

In lieu of flowers, the Templin family requests donations are made to the Max & Dovie Foundation at the church. Funeral arrangements were made by Sunland’s funeral home.
