Carey was born in Tyler to Carey Sr. and Ruth Hazel, attended The Rice Institute, and served 4 years in the US Air Force flying the F-100s. He married Dorothy Kreager, completed his PhD in Mech. Engineering at Univ. of Texas with honors, and loved R&D work improving offshore oil drilling pipe to his last days.

He is survived by beloved children Richard, Donald and Susan and grandchildren Colleen, Matthew, Stephen and Michael, and his wife of over 60 years. Services [were held on] Mon. Jan. 15 2:00 at FPC, 5300 Main St.
