Bob was an Air Force fighter pilot and Vietnam veteran. His last assignment was with the Iowa Air National Guard as the senior Air Force advisor.

He retired in 1979 after twenty-six years of service. He was a command pilot with over 3,500 jet fighter flying hours and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal and the Air Medal.

Colonel Robert Reichart, USAF (Retired) “Headed West” October 9, 2017

Colonel Robert D. Reichart (Retired), age 87, son of Joseph and Gertrude, passed away October 9, 2017, at Kennybrook Village with Dee and Jeff at his side.

Bob was an Air Force fighter pilot and Vietnam veteran. His last assignment was with the Iowa Air National Guard as the senior Air Force advisor. He retired in 1979 after twenty-six years of service. He was a command pilot with over 3,500 jet fighter flying hours and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal and the Air Medal.

After retirement, to keep busy, he worked for ten years as a courtesy driver for Jordan Motors. He enjoyed entertaining (along with his wife, Dee) and the company of family and friends. His top priority was keeping his car in tip-top shape.

He is survived by his wife, Dee, of 62 years, son, Jeff (Heidi), granddaughters Hannah, Maggie, and Emmy, daughter, Kristin White (Dan), granddaughters Caitlyn and Madison, sister, Pat Roberts (Ray) as well as other loving family and many special friends.

A mass of Christian burial was held at St. Mary of Nazareth Church. The private burial of his cremains was at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Van Meter.
