Today in History – September 23, 1965 – 1Lt G.W. Marlowe is rescued after ejecting from F-100 #553738

23 September 1965 – G.W. Marlowe was serving with the 429TFS out of Bien Hoa AB, Vietnam. On a strafing mission over SVN, his F-100 was hit by gunfire, and Marlowe was forced to eject. He was rescued by Helo and uninjured.

Pilot Information

Bruce flew the F-100 from 1974 to 1976 with the 174th Tactical Fighter Squadron/185th Tactical Fighter Wing. He was also a fighter pilot with the Iowa Air National Guard from January 1976 to February 1992.

He was also Vice President of Smith Wake Investments from 1988 – Jan 2011.
