Headed West

Bob Sumner flew the F-100 in 1965 with the 517th Combat Crew Training Squadron, the 429th, 531st and 58th Tactical Fighter Squadrons, at Luke AFB, AZ, then TDY from Cannon AFB, NM with the 416th Tactical Fighter Squadron out of Bien Hoa AB, Vietnam. From 1/1968-6/1968 he attended F-100 Fighter Weapons School at Nellis AFB, NV and went back to Bien Hoa Vietnam in 1968-1969. He also flew with the 103rd Tatical Fighter Squadron of the CTANG.

SSS member Robert Merle Sumner, 81, of Aurora, CO, “Headed West” on January 1, 2016. He was born January 24, 1934, in Liverpool, Ohio, the son of Robert and Rachel Sumner.

Bob flew the F-100 with 4517 CCTS,429TFS, 531 TFS, 68th TFS, 416TFS and the 103rd TFS CT ANG.

Bob is survived by his Wife, Marion Sumner; two Granddaughters, Bobbie Jo Sumner, Kayla Sumner; and Mother, Rachel Sumner. He is preceded in death by Father, Robert Sumner, Son, Robert Sumner, Brother, Johnny Sumner.

At his request, no services are planned. Private interment took place at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
