Don served our country as an officer in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years. He was an F-100 fighter pilot during the Vietnam War and was awarded 7 medals for extraordinary heroism and leadership including the Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal, and the Air Medal.

After his military career, Don enjoyed a 36-year career in financial consulting and was the owner of Pilot Financial Services. Don was a member of Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church, Sons in Retirement (SIR), Air Force Association, Super Sabre Society, Red River Valley Fighter Pilot Association, and the American Society of Appraisers.

Lt. Col. Donald James Tubb, (LtCol USAF, Ret) “Heade West on March 22, 2014

Lt. Col. Donald James Tubb went home to be with the Lord on March 22, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was a loving husband, father, granddad, and steadfast friend, full of faith, grace, and wisdom.

Don was born to James and Alberta Tubb in Weatherford, OK, and earned a B.S. in Geography from Oklahoma A&M College and an MBA from the University of California at Berkeley.

Don served our country as an officer in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years. He was an F-100 fighter pilot during the Vietnam War and was awarded 7 medals for extraordinary heroism and leadership including the Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal, and the Air Medal.

After his military career, Don enjoyed a 36-year career in financial consulting and was the owner of Pilot Financial Services. Don was a member of Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church, Sons in Retirement (SIR), Air Force Association, Super Sabre Society, Red River Valley Fighter Pilot Association, and the American Society of Appraisers.

He enjoyed golfing, singing with choir & SIRs, Bible study, traveling, and spending time with his family.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Joyce; three daughters, Catherine (Thomas) Shortridge of Torrance, Caroline (Mel) Fair of Los Angeles, and Amelia Tubb of New York; and four grandchildren, Benton and Faith Shortridge and Taylor and Madison Fair. He is also survived by his three brothers, Jack Tubb of Tulsa, OK, Richard (Farl) Tubb of Corvallis, OR, and Daniel (Cecelia) Tubb of Edmond, OK.

His generous loving spirit will be missed by all who knew him.

Don’s funeral service was held with full military honors on March 27th at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon.

Friends and family celebrated Don’s life at a memorial service on Sat. May 10th.
