Military & Civilian Education

James H. Westberry, Col USAF, Ret., “Headed West” on March 14, 2010.

WESTBERRY, COL. JAMES – age 81 of Fairfield Glade, Tennessee, was called home to be with his Savior, one day after his birthday, Sunday, March 14, 2010. Even his hard fought battle with cancer was not enough to darken his spirits or his belief that he had led a full and happy life.

James Westberry earned his status as retired Colonel after 29 years of military service in the United States Air Force and Coast Guard. He was no less the “serviceman” in his retirement. He was an active member of Central Baptist Church, but he shared God’s Word everywhere he went. He had the heart of a servant, which was most evident in his unconditional devotion to his wife Patsy Westberry, as well as the love and generosity he extended to all of his loved ones.

He is survived by wife: Patsy F. Westberry; sons: Dr. Richard Westberry and William Westberry; daughter: Kathryn Jurgensen; step-sons: Mark Chait and Daniel Chait; grandchildren: Wendy Westberry, David Jurgensen, William Westberry, William Westberry, Robert Jurgensen, Jake Westberry, Kaitlin Westberry, Krista Jurgensen; great grandchild: James Orlando and brother: Jack Westberry. Preceded in death by his parents: Shelton and Inez Bagley Westberry. The family will receive friends at Central Baptist Church in Crossville from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 18, 2010, with funeral immediately following. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers the Westberry family requests donations be made to the Gideon Bible Foundation.
