Pilot Information

Al Winkelman was “Misty 79”. Misty Forward Air Controllers flew F-100’s at low altitude, marking enemy targets during the Vietnam War. One quarter of the “Misty’s” all volunteer unit were shot down.

After serving in the USAF, Al Winkelman moved to Utah to become a ski instructor.
