Harvey J. Stewart, LtCol USAF, Ret., “Headed West” on July 1, 2023.

Harvey Jay Stewart, born on March 5, 1933, in Water Valley, Texas, peacefully passed away on July 1, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Rosemary McKee Stewart from Arlington, Texas. Together, they shared 69 years of love and cherished memories.

Harvey was a devoted father to his three sons, Bradley J. Stewart of Arlington, Texas, Chris Stewart of San Angelo, Texas, and Bruce Stewart of Dallas, Texas. His love extended to his five grandchildren, Kyle Stewart, Samuel Stewart, Spencer Stewart, Connor Stewart, and Sydney Stewart, whom he adored and cherished deeply.

Harvey’s life was marked by remarkable achievements and contributions. He graduated from Prescott High School in Prescott, Arizona in 1950 and went on to earn his degree from Texas Tech University in 1954. He embarked on a distinguished 20-year career as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Harvey’s courage and bravery were recognized with two Distinguished Flying Crosses and a Silver Star for his exceptional valor in combat during Vietnam in 1968. He concluded his military service as a F-111 squadron commander at Cannon Air Force Base in Clovis, New Mexico.

After retiring from the Air Force, Harvey embarked on a productive and successful second career as an independent representative in the military procurement industry. He utilized his extensive expertise and network to make a lasting impact in his field.

While Harvey’s professional accomplishments were significant, his devotion to his family was unparalleled. He was a devoted husband, a supportive father, and a loving grandfather. He took immense joy in spending time with his family and creating lasting memories.

Harvey will be interred at Pikes Peak National Cemetery in Colorado Springs, Colorado on Friday, September 8, 2023 where he will rest in peace. A memorial service to celebrate Harvey’s life will be held at a time and location to be announced at a later date. Friends, family, and all whose lives were touched by Harvey are invited to attend and pay their respects

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association. Contributions made in his honor will support important research and initiatives to combat this debilitating disease.

Harvey Jay Stewart made the world a safer and better place during his lifetime. His legacy of bravery, dedication, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched.
