Frederick “Fred” Rodgers Dent III…fighter pilot. Colonel, U.S. Air Force (Ret.), died Jan. 1, 2014. Born at Kelly Field, San Antonio, Texas, April 3, 1934, the son of Maj. Gen. Frederick Rodgers Dent Jr., He was accepted at the United States Military Academy in West Point, N.Y., in 1952 and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force in 1956.
