Robert L. Brusenhan, Jr. M.D. Headed West

SSS member Robert L. Brusenhan, Jr. headed west March 16, 2015. He was born in Ruston, LA on October 28, 1931 to Robert L. “Bruce” Brusenhan, Sr. and Alice Hammet Brusenhan. He grew up in San Antonio graduating from Jefferson High School. He attended The Rice Institute and was accepted in Baylor College of Medicine after three years. He interned in Denver, Colorado at Colorado General Hospital. Next he was assigned as an Air Force Flight Surgeon flying the F-100 in the 53TFS/36TFW from 1958-59 at Bitburg AB, Germany.

He went back to Baylor in Houston for a five year specialty in Urology. He came to San Antonio where he practiced for over 40 years. Dr. Brusenhan was an avid hunter, enjoyed traveling all over the world and gambling in Las Vegas. He was a member of SACC, Club Giraud and the Petroleum Club, Merry Knights, Bexar County Medical Society, T.M.A., A.U.A., S.A. Surgical Society and numerous other medical organizations.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lollie Wright Brusenhan; children, Robert L. “Rusty” Brusenhan III and wife, Ann Marie, Kim Brusenhan Youngblood, Anne Campbell and husband, Shane; brothers, Harry H. Brusenhan, and wife, Laura and J. Richard Brusenhan and wife, Marilyn; five grandchildren, Abigail, Maitlyn, Coke, Hatch and Hunter; two great-grandchildren, C.C. and William; brother-in-law Richard Traylor and wife, Mary West and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Bruce Brusenhan and granddaughter, Kendall Youngblood Simon.

Interment was in Sunset Memorial Park.
