If you can’t buy an F-100, maybe you could fly one virtually…

George Dubick wrote about his latest project, an F-100 simulator he’s set up at home. Here’s What’s New –

“The recent creation of my home flight simulator came about when I was informed that a simulation company named “MilViz“, for Military Visualizations, had in its’ inventory of aircraft the North American F-100D. This information came from my colleague sim instructor at Bombardier Flight Training in Dallas, Mike Herculson, who’s father, Bob Hurculson is an SSS member who flew with Capt. Tony McPeak in Europe.

They are able to depict very accurately the flight dynamics and handling characteristics of the aircraft for flight simulation. The “Hun” is very accurately presented in rich cockpit and exterior detail that puts you in an amazing virtual reality. The aircraft has to be flown with the same consideration to the low speed, adverse yaw habits, well known and understood by every Hun driver.
My sim runs on the “Lockheed Martin Prepar3d” version 5 program and World Mega Earth land graphics. MilViZ currently recommends Prepar3d V 4 and is working to make it even more realistic as they bring the Hun completely up to version V of Prepar3d. My flight controls are manufactured and sold by “Thrustmaster” and are the “Warthog A-10 C” stick and dual throttles with the “Thrustmaster” Pendular Rudder pedals.
