Today in History – December 22, 1967 – Capt. Robert Lynne Long is KIA in shootdown of F-100D #562922

22 December 1967 – Capt Robert L Long had been serving with the 531st Tactical Fighter Squadron, 3rd Tactical Fighter Wing, 7th Air Force and was stationed at Bien Hoa AB, Vietnam. Robert was married to his wife Linda [nee Hall] and had 2 beautiful daughters.

On December 22, 1967, BCapt Robert Lynne Long, “Ramrod O”, was flying a mission to detect a suspected SAM site in SVN when his aircraft was shot down by anti-aircraft artillery, 10 miles west of Lai Khe in Binh Duong Province.

Robert is buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plymouth, IN.
