14 January 1970 Bill “B Squared” Baker was serving with the 531TFS out of Bien Hoa AB, Vietnam. On a mission flying as Ramrod 9, over SVN, his aircraft was hit by automatic weapons. Bill ejected and was rescued by an Army Helo.

Two years earlier on January 14, 1968, 1Lt Paul Douglas Strahm was KIA after experiencing engine failure during a close air support mission near Bien Hoa. He was flying F-100 #563429.

Paul was born on December 12, 1943, and lived in Sheffield Lake, OH when he enlisted in the USAF and entered through the reserves. Paul is honored on the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial in Washington DC. Name inscribed at VVM Wall, Panel 34e, Line 50.
