Today in History – June 3, 1969 – Donald Francis Ginart is KIA while flying F-100D #553790

1Lt Donald Francis Ginart enlisted in the Air Force and entered via the Reserve Military. He began his tour on January 27, 1969, and was assigned to the 614TH TFS/35TH TFW, 7TH AF out of Phan Rang AB.

On June 3, 1969, 1Lt Ginart was on a close air support mission about 10 miles southwest of Quan Long in the extreme southern tip of South Vietnam. During his second strafing pass against Viet Cong structures, his aircraft was hit by anti-aircraft fire and crashed. Ginart’s body was recovered by an Army team. Donnie was born on February 19, 1944, in New Orleans, LA, and is buried at Metairie Cemetery there.
