Lou concluded his military career as a Base Engineer at Lowry Air Force Base in Colorado, retiring as a full Colonel.
After retiring from the Air Force, Lou and his beloved wife, Roberta, moved to Mesa, Arizona. There, he served as the Director of Operations for Mesa Public Schools until his retirement in 2000. Lou and Roberta were happily married for 58 years and traveled extensively throughout their military and civilian lives.”(1)

Lou passed away on July 4, 2024. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1938, Lou attended high school at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and started his college journey at Virginia Tech. He left college early to enter the Aviation Cadet Program, marking the beginning of a remarkable military career.

Lou is survived by his wife, Roberta Rever, his two children, Robin DeFilippi and Deborah Rever, his five grandchildren: Nick (Cindy), Claudia, Peter, Jacob, and Sagan; and great-grandchild, Greyson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Geneva Hackett, and his brother, Jerry Hackett.
Lou’s legacy of service, dedication, and love for his family will forever be remembered by those who knew him.
