Frank Hubbard joined the Air Force in 1951 and did his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. He attended pilot training at Andrews AFB. After being awarded his wings, Frank was commissioned and stationed in Germany, where he met and married his wife, Libby.
Frank flew the F-100 with the 53rd Fighter-Day Squadron/36th Fighter-Day Wing out of Bitburg AB and Landstuhl AB, Germany, and later at Nellis AFB, NV. In later assignments, his principal responsibility as a director involved aircraft systems and aircraft testing at Nellis. He retired in 1972.

Frank Lewis Hubbard of Talladega passed away peacefully on March 31, 2022, at the age of 90.
Mr. Hubbard, a retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel, was a Birmingham native. His family was born and raised in Talladega and when he semi-retired he moved here in 1983. He was a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church and attended the Caravan Class.
Mr. Hubbard joined the Air Force in 1951 and did his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, before being stationed at Andrews AFB. It was there that he entered pilot training. Upon graduation, he was awarded his wings, and was commissioned and stationed in Germany, where he met and married his wife, Libby. He was assigned three times to Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, NV. All his jobs following his commission involved flying. His principal responsibility in later assignments as director involved aircraft systems and aircraft testing at Nellis AFB. Mr. Hubbard retired in 1972. Following his retirement from the military, he joined American National Insurance Company and remained in Las Vegas for one year before transferring to the home office in Galveston, Texas, where he worked for 10 years.
In 1983 when Mr. Hubbard moved to Talladega, he involved himself in civic and church activities. He was a past president of the Lions Club and the Landmark Foundation. In 1988 he became the Executive Director of the Chamber.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Worley Hubbard, his daughters, Kimberly Hubbard Smith (Mark) and Allison Hubbard Appleton (Scot), grandchildren, Jared Smith (Louise), Ashleigh Smith Hanak (Brandon) and Megan Stevens (Terry and 5 children), and great-grandchild Ovie Hanak. He is preceded in death by his parents, Preston and Josephine Hubbard, sister, Mary Jo Hubbard Richards, daughter, Leslie Elizabeth Hubbard, and sons, David Wayne Hubbard and Stephen Lewis Hubbard.
His funeral service was held on Monday, April 11, 2022, at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Leeann Scarbrough officiating. Interment followed at The Hubbard Cemetery, Renfroe.
