“Born in Chicago IL Donald “Pete” Peterson formed lifelong friendships at Lane Tech HS and lifeguarding on Lake Michigan. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in agriculture. (This lead to his starting his own orchard in Santa Barbara, CA.)

After graduation, he joined the US Air Force flying F-100’s as a captain while stationed in England and Italy. Pete served honorably and established lasting bonds with his brothers in service. Following his AF career, he continued his love of flying with United Airlines, retiring as a captain.

Carrying a fighter pilot mentality throughout life, he did things with determination and dedication. Pete was an inspiration in strength and courage to those around him. Relationships were paramount to Pete. He had a rare gift of seeing everyone as an equal.

Retirement allowed him to dedicate himself to the true love of his life, Linda. They enjoyed travel and adventures, spending time with friends and family.  Mostly they loved time together at La Collina Verde with their dogs.

Pete loved swimming, skiing, kayaking, reading, photography and playing the piano. He played at the Soho Club and Stanford Jazz Camp. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and loved wood carving, winning awards, and making gifts for family.
