This Day in History – May 25, 1969 – 1Lt D.G. Stanford ejects from F-100D #563119

D.G. Stanford was assigned to the 352nd Tactical Fighter Squadron out of Phan Rang AB. On a mission over South Vietnam, Stanford’s F-100D was hit by small arms fire. He ejected and was rescued by a USN ship. He suffered minor injuries. Photo by Gary Gulbransen USAF F100 Dart 56-3119

Biography
Pilot Information

“Hank McCauley entered the U.S. Air Force in 1964. Following pilot training and gunnery school, he flew the F-100 with the 3rd TFW, 416th TFS at Bien Hoa AB, RVN from 1966-1967. He was then assigned to the 20th TFW, 55th TFS from 1967-1971.

After the F-100 was retired from active service he continued his Air Force career with assignments to the A-7, A-10 and several staff job.

He retired as a colonel in 1991.” (1)
