Paul “PK” Kimminau was born in Kingman, KS, February 9, 1936, to Christian and Clara Kimminau. He had five brothers and three sisters. He was raised in Kansas and attended Wichita State University, graduating with ROTC and an Aeronautical Engineering degree. He was commissioned in the United States Air Force in 1959, went to pilot training, and became an extraordinary fighter pilot. He flew F-100s, A-1E “Sandy” search and rescue, A-7Ds, and A-10s through his career, and was awarded both a Silver Star and Purple Heart in combat missions in Vietnam.
Paul is survived by Lois (nee Stickney), his wife of 67 years, and three sons, Jon (Trish), Brian (Polly), and Alex (Leslie); predeceased by a daughter, Lori (Dennis) Regehr. In addition, he leaves 10 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
PK was very active in an association of fellow pilots and officers, where he served many years as the organization scribe and made many lifelong friends. He also joined two men’s golf groups in the Tucson area.
Following retirement, he and Lois did as much travel as they could afford, he played golf several times a week, spent time with his family and grandchildren, and wrote a book about his flying career (I Was Lucky, I Got To Be a Pilot).

Services were held on April 15, 2024. Interment with Military Honors was at Arizona Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery at Marana.
He will be missed.
