Lt. Col. Paul Da SanMartino “Headed West” December 1, 2016

Lt. Col. Paul Da SanMartino is now “dancing the skies on laughter-silvered wings”

He passed peacefully on Dec 1, 2016 surrounded by his family and close friends. He is survived by his wife and best friend Sue, his loving daughter Debra, brother, Phillip, four grandsons, many nieces, nephews, and great friends. He was preceded in death by his only son Paul III, loving parents Paul Sr and Mildred.

Born in San Francisco Aug 4, 1934, Paul learned to fly as a young man, flying with his dad and then joining the Air Force in 1954.  He became a fighter pilot serving 3 tours in Vietnam and was later stationed as commander of Detachment 1 at the air base of New Hanover County where he served and retired as the youngest Lt Col at the time. He was awarded numerous decorations for his service. After retirement he owned businesses in Wilmington and Carolina Beach. Paul was larger than life and will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.
