Michael K. Ryan, Maj USAF, Ret., “Headed West” on September 15, 2014.

Michael K Ryan, 83, of Reno, NV passed away at his home on Monday 9/15/14 after a short battle with cancer. Born on 6/22/31 in Albion, NY, he was the son of Col. (Ret) William and Helen Ryan. He married Ada Ingle Ryan on 4/8/62 and had 4 children. He proudly served his country as an aviator in the USAF and earned a Purple Heart after being shot down in Vietnam.

Upon retiring from the Air Force in 1974 the family moved to Danville, CA where Mike worked for Lockheed Martin until his retirement in 1994.

He and Ada moved to Reno, NV where they enjoyed their retirement with good friends. Mike was a member of VFW Post 10053, Verdi, NV, The Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 719, American Legion Post 1, and West Point Society of Northern NV. Mike enjoyed his family, airplanes, history, golf, fishing, shooting, photography, world travel, lunch on Tuesdays with his VFW comrades, Fox News and a good highball. He is survived by his wife Ada, daughters Karen Koski (Dwayne), Kathleen Samaris (Col. Charles, Army), Kelly Shaw (Colby), his son William Ryan (Sandra) and sister Maureen Steinbach, grandchildren Justin, Janessa Trujillo (Joe), Jenae’, Cameron, Sophia and great granddaughter Kaydence. Memorial Service: Sat. 9/27/14, 10:00 am St Albert’s Catholic Church, Reno, NV, reception to follow 12:00 pm at the Wilbur D May Museum, Rancho San Rafael Park, Reno, NV. Burial was with Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
