“Stanley L. Wiggins entered the Air Force on May 9th, 1952 as an airman 3rd class. Because of his high scores he was permitted to go to Officers Training School where he again excelled and in spite of not having the minimum 2 years of college, got jets. He was commissioned a 2nd lieutenant on May 12th 1954; he married Norma Louise Kramer on July 4th, 1954. In 1957 he was promoted to 1st Lieutenant and completed 2 years of college credit by exam. On January 1, 1960 he was promoted to Captain. He made Major on December 20th, 1966 and retired from the Air Force March 31, 1973.” (1)

Stanley L. Wiggins, Maj USAF, Ret., “Headed West” on February 2, 2011.

Stanley Leroy “Buzz” Wiggins, age 78 of Karnack, Texas, passed away on February 2, 2011.

Major Wiggins, a retired USAF fighter pilot died due to complications arising after a stroke.

Stan was born March 29, 1932 in South Owego, New York to Fred and Florence Wiggins. Stanley was the sixth of nine children (Fred, Malcolm, Doris, Betty, Norma, Laurel, Robert, Barbara and Shirley.)

He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force following high school, entered Officer’s Candidate School and trained at Williams Air Force Base in Chandler, Arizona. He married Norma Louise Kramer, a Phoenix resident. Stan served in the USAF for 20 years, including three tours of Viet Nam, Cambodia and Laos. He was awarded medals including the Silver Star for Gallantry. He retired in 1973 and established a commodity trading business in Scottsdale, Arizona, then re-retired and moved to Karnack.

Stanley is survived by his brother, Robert Wiggins of Florida, his sisters, Doris Everett and Shirley Kilker of New York and Norma Page of Pennsylvania, his children, Brian Wiggins and Kenton Wiggins of Phoenix, Arizona, grandchildren, Tommy Darrington and Christi Heinrick, great-grandchildren, Alex and Ariel Heinrick and devoted friends, Evelyn Clegg and family.

His cremains will be buried at 9am May 27, 2011 in Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.
