William (Bill) Whelchel was born on February 21, 1930 in Gainsville, Georgia and headed west September 16, 2016 in Niceville, Florida. Bill’s life was celebrated October 2, 2016 in Fort Walton Beach by his wife, Beverly Whelchel, with family and friends. They celebrate his 86 years of life, where Bill faithfully served his family, friends and the United Sates Air Force.
Bill served for 22 years, many of which he was and flew F-100’s with the 612th TFS. His service included stops throughout the country.
He had deep love and devotion to his flying years, and afterwards he love of the Fort Walton Beach community.
Bill’s ashes will be spread by air over the Gulf of Mexico by his friend and fellow pilot Sandy Williams. Bill will always be remembered as a detail oriented, honest, rule-following man. His Wife, Family and friends will remember him most for his kind heart, deep love and devotion to all he touched during his life.
