Today in History – February 17, 1968 – LTC B.M. Fields/Capt W.D. Canup eject from F-100F #563959 both are recovered.

17 February 1968 – LTC B.M. Fields and CAPT W.D. Canup were serving with the 614TFS out of Phan Rang AB, Vietnam. On that day Fields and Canup were on a mission in F-100F #563959 to find enemy troops over SVN.

The F-100F was hit by gunfire 5 miles SW of Can Tho City, and both were forced to eject. Fields was recovered with minor injuries by VANF aircraft and Canup was recovered with minor injuries by Army aircraft.
