27 July 1960 A North American F-100C Super Sabre, assigned to the USAF Thunderbirds on 28 March 1960, is destroyed during a solo proficiency flight when it crashes fifty miles from Nellis AFB, Nevada, killing Capt. John R. Crane. John was flying F-100C # 53-1740.

25 September 1918 – Eddie Rickenbacker is quoted as saying, “Courage is doing what you’re afraid to do. There can be no courage unless you’re scared.” Rickenbacker’s Medal of Honor Citation reads: For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty in action against the enemy near Billy, France, 25 September 1918.
