Today in History – November 6, 1966 – 1Lt Gerald Kent Bankus is shot down over SVN

1Lt Gerald “Kent” Bankus was serving with the 416TFS out of Bien Hoa AB, Vietnam. On November 6, 1966, he was sent out on a strafing mission flying F-100D #553603 to the Paul Revere IV area. His aircraft was hit by gunfire and he was forced to eject. He was rescued by an Army Helo.

SSS Member Col Kent Bankus and his wife Patty were killed in a car crash on February 15, 2016.
