12 September 1966 – 1Lt John Peter Skoro was serving with the 615t TFS out of Phan Rang AB, Vietnam. He was known to friends and fellow pilots as Junior or Animal. Junior was born on February 3, 1942, in Gary, IN. During a strike on an automatic weapon position near Phu Xuan, 20 miles north of Phu Cat, the aircraft was hit by ground fire as it pulled up to 4,000 feet. Skoro was listed as “Died while missing”. He is buried at the United States Air Force Academy Cemetery in Colorado Springs, Colorado
