March 10, 1969 -F-100 pilot Capt. Arthur William Cofer is declared KIA.
Capt. Arthur William Cofer with the 612 TFS/37 TFW out of Phu Cat, was flying his F-100 D (#563380), when the aircraft was hit by gunfire over South Vietnam. Cofer was reported missing and ultimately declared dead on March 10, 1969. Recorded circumstances attributed to: “Hostile Died While Missing, Air Loss Crash – Land, Fixed Wing – Pilot”. Incident Location: South Vietnam, Ninh Thuan province.(1)
Arthur was born on December 7, 1941, in Springfield, IL. He was selected for pilot training and his first assignment was flying an F-100 in Vietnam. He is burlied in Arlington National Cemetary.
