He was the recipient of The Silver Star; Distinguished Flying Cross; and the Meritorious Service Medal, flying several combat tours in Vietnam. He retired to Salado in 1980. His buying and selling of antique clocks led to Tucks Tic Toc at Springhouse in Salado. He was a member of the Salado Lions Club, the Salado Masonic Lodge, the Quiet Bird Men and the Order of the Daedalians.”(1)

Col James E Tuck died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010 at his home. He was born on Dec. 30, 1928, to Benjamin Poole and Cleo Gravitt Tuck in Virgilina, Va. He was a graduate of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va., and the Air War College, Maxwell AFB in Alabama. On Nov. 2, 1957, he married Sue Ann Hodges in Norman, Okla. He retired as colonel from the U.S. Air Force in December 1979 after 26 years of service.

Survivors include his wife of Salado; a son, Jeffrey Tuck of Pearland; two daughters, Julie Lutz and Janet Croftcheck, both of Salado; two sisters, Lottie Nunn of Virgilina, Va., and Eva Conduff of Roanoke, Va.; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
