Willard H. Snell, Jr. was commissioned in the USAF in 1956 and served until 1977. He was a Charter member of the Super Sabre Society.

As an F-105 pilot, he was one of the first to run missions on fuel storage areas in Hanoi and Haiphong. It was reported in the publication “Airman” in 1967 that after his 100th combat mission, he returned to flares, sirens, flashing lights and streamers to commemorate the achievement.

He is fondly remembered by his friends who served with him in the 18th Tactical Fighter Wing; 36th Tactical Fighter Wing; 388th Tactical Fighter Wing, and 355th Tactical Fighter Wing. He flew the F-100C in Vietnam and the F-105 in the Rolling Thunder campaign.
