22 January 1969 – Maj John Grathwol “Misty 88” was serving with the 355 TFS out of Phu Cat AB, Vietnam when he and Capt C.A. Clarke took off in F-100F #563886 on a recce mission over Laos. Their aircraft was hit by aimed automatic weapons as they climbed away from the target. Both ejected and were recovered by a USAF Helo.
