A veteran of Vietnam, he completed 226 combat missions at Bien Hoa, Viet Nam, flying the F-100 Super Saber. He earned a two Distinguished Flying Cross and 12 Air Medals for superior flying skill. John E. Taylor Jr., MajGen, USAF (Ret) 95, headed west 15 January 2019. He met and married wife Barbara Bronson Taylor in Terre Haute, and he stayed connected to the community through the years. His daughter, son, and grandson said a final farewell Monday afternoon during a committal service in the chapel at Highland Lawn.
